Trick or Treat? To free yourself from the ghouls and ghosts who were wandering the streets, the means designated was to set out food ~ give the demons a treat ~ and provide shelter for them during the night. If they were satisfied, all would be well, if not, they would cast an evil spell on you causing havoc. The Celts chose Oct 31st as their New Years Eve ~ day to celebrate every- thing evil, wicked and dead. They offered sacrifices and even themselves, sometimes. If you are a Christian, who is called to LIFT PEOPLE OUT OF DARKNESS and to SET PEOPLE FREE ~ how can you have ANYTHING to do with the horrors duplicated in present day costumes, masks and decorations? "Have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather, reprove them." (Ephesians 5:11) The most grotesque masks, skeletons, and costumes are available to cover your pure and innocent little children that God calls, "a gift from Him." [Psalm 127]			But...We celebrated it! Even though we grew up with haunted houses, bats and black cats, scaring each other and laughing about it ... the truth is, we were deceived. God's Word says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Halloween is not an "innocent holiday" devoid of evil...and it never has been. PAGANS originated the sinister and ugly traditions that we see practiced today by those who are ignorant of the enemy's devices. The purpose: to deceive God's people ~ and anyone else who steps into his trap. The Druids honored SamHain, the Lord of the Dead, on Nov 1st, believing that he gathered the wicked souls who inhabited the bodies of animals, and all the wicked dead, to roam the earth on that night to harm those with whom they came in contact. Cats were considered sacred ~ believed to have been humans changed into animals as punishment for their evil deeds.
The Inconsistency of Professing Christians Bible believing Christians shutter and cringe at the thought of satan worship and occult rites. But how many of these same people will cover their precious children with occult symbolism and send them out into the darkness? How many will stand by and approve church and school sponsored programs that promote the occult? What Christian can give a Scriptural or even logical reason for participating in or approval of, that which is unmistakably associated with paganism, devil worship, witchcraft and horror? In these last days....      There is a strong increase in occult activity and study, the obscene, the filthy, the abominable. Media in every area strives to outdo one another in the presentation of the macabre, the sensual, the violent and shocking. As a result, the viewer and listener is profoundly de-sensitized.  Jesus has called us as believers to come out from among them and be separate. He Himself has said, "The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." [John 10:10 NIV]  "If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.......But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." [Joshua 24:15 NIV] If you have never made this choice and you would now like to receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord, go here.			God's People are Governed by His Word Deuteronomy 18:10-13 explicitly FORBIDS Christians to have ANYTHING to do with witchcraft, spiritism or the demonic. These verses CONDEMN all forms of pagan worship, fortune-telling, astrology, spirit guides, idolatry, charms, amulets, mediums, consulting the dead, etc. The elements, decorations, symbolism, etc. of Halloween ALL POINT TO THESE FORBIDDEN PRACTICES. We know your answer is that you don't take it all seriously and neither do your children. You say, "It doesn't mean the same thing today as it did back then. Now it's just harmless fun." If it isn't a Christian holiday, what religion is it? The Supreme court has ruled that Wicca, Witchcraft, Satanism, etc. are ALL RELIGIONS... with all the perks. Do you want that religion promoted in your school? You can be certain in most schools Christianity IS NOT HONORED or acknowledged. "Religion" [according to the dictionary] is "the adoration, obedience to and service rendered to the object of ones worship." Halloween is not commanded or sanctioned by Jehovah God ~ the true Christians superior Authority in Scripture. The enemy of our souls, satan, is a "legalist." He doesn't really care if you BELIEVE in Halloween, AS LONG AS YOU PARTICIPATE IN IT!
